Happy Anniversary to Us!

39 years ago we walked down the aisle to Bach and walked back to Handel and promised our love and faithfulness forever and ever. We still call it the best day of our lives!

Over the years we have known many seasons of better and worse, richer and poorer, sickness and health and if God answers my prayers to both to live to 100 in good health, we have another 38 years til death do us part!

We spent the day doing preparations for Gabriel & Kim’s wedding this Saturday and celebrated our grandson, Judah’s, birthday, all part of the richness of this summer.  In the evening, like all the other 38 anniversaries. we found a new place to share a pizza as we did on our first anniversary in a little village in Italy when we were on a mission trip.

For about the past 25 years we have brought along a tattered copy of “The Secret of Staying in Love” by John Powell and answered one of the dialogue questions in the back while we wait for the pizza. There is still a lot to learn about each other as we keep changing and growing as individuals as we move through life together.

It is also the one night a year when we agree not to mention kids, grandkids or work and added this year, the upcoming wedding, and just focus on us. It is a simple but always a significant way to celebrate.
